Sen. Huckleberry Hounds Us

Who says that Ralph Waldo Emerson wasn’t prescient? Whenever I hear Sen. Huckleberry babble about “honor,” I am reminded of Emerson’s comment: “The louder he talked of his honor, the faster we counted our spoons.”

Huckleberry continues that, even though it may have been wrong to have invaded Iraq, we are there and it would be “dishonorable” to leave. I believe it was Mark Twain who made the best response to such nonsense when he suggested that “a burglar couldn’t have said that any better.”
