Scrushy Found Not Guilty

While I have no idea whether or not Richard Scrushy masterminded some of the alleged nefarious financial dealings of HealthSouth Corporation, it is satisfying to see a jury find him not guilty of violating the blatantly evil and nefarious Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Even more satisfying is to hear U.S. Attorney Alice Martin declare her disappointment at losing. Last February, I predicted Scrushy would be convicted, not because there was a real-live legal case, but the nature of the federal system is that it is one big conviction machine. All I can say is that it is nice to be wrong.
