Writes Wes Baker: “I’ll make this admission brief and direct. I’ve been following the sort of ‘man on the street’ accounts of the voters in SC and LA leading up to the two respective elections. My surveillance mostly comes from radio programs in both states via the internet and the local rags.
“What Paul’s 4% showing in SC and his second place (possibly higher) showing in LA tells me is that the Protestant church – and I am a member of this body – is no friend of freedom. And I’m not trying to be cute.
“The opposition that Paul faced from the Christian vote in SC – mainly Protestant outside of the Tidewater area – was astounding. Guess what the two reasons for this opposition were. The ‘War on Terror’ and libertarianism – which was always confused with libertinism.
“Think about this. South Carolina, a state greatly populated by Hugenots from France – was the very first state to resist Federal coercion in late 1859/60, and now she is in the forefront of international warmongering on the part of her master in D.C.
“I can’t say that this is enough to bring me to Rome, but it is undeniably sickening and embarrassing.”
