There is no good reason for the anti-Russian hostility that we see expressed so profusely in Washington today and in the last few years. Confrontation between these two states is profoundly against the interests of both states and both nations. It also goes against the usual historical pattern, which is peaceful, that reflects those interests. American-Russian relations should be repaired.
