Republicans have looked better than their usual sorry selves lately because they have generally been much quicker than Democrats to jettison the draconian Covid measures that have strangled Americans for two years. But when it comes to Ukraine, their true nature is showing again. According to Republican “leader” Mitch McConnell, “The vast majority of the Republican Party writ large, both in Congress and across the country, are totally behind the Ukrainians and urging the president to take these steps quicker, to be bolder. There may be a few lonely voices off to the side. I wouldn’t pay much attention to them.” He said that if he were majority leader, he would have brought the supplemental funding for Ukraine to the floor as a standalone bill because “virtually every one of my members would’ve voted for it.”That’s because they are bloodthirsty warmongers who are in the pockets of the defense contractors who donate to them.
