Remedial Economics?

In an online discussion, a fellow was arguing that raising the minimum wage doesn’t cause unemployment.  He made reference to a Princeton study and said that the conclusion was that “correlation doesn’t equal causation.”  So I joined the discussion and referred to the incentives involved when the government raises the minimum wage.  I used a basic example with realistic numbers – the kind of thing that we have actually seen in the real world.

My protagonist didn’t point out anything factually incorrect with my analysis, didn’t question any of my premises, or point to any logical fallacies.  His answer was illustrative: “I have an economics degree [bachelors] from Wharton.  But thank you for the mansplaining.”

I replied: “You’re very welcome.  Any time!  Happy to help.”
