Re: Tiananmen Square Commemoration

Now, Becky, you know there’s an important distinction to be drawn between the brutalities of the Chinese and the Canadian governments, and why the U.S. would condemn the former and overlook the latter. The Chinese government is the Americans’ banker, holding a lot of paper of diminishing value, for which it might choose to protect its position. Don’t you remember the mean old banker, Henry Potter, from the film IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE? I’ll bet he could have held off the disgruntled depositors if he had only had a string of tanks available to him. Today, in addition to the banks causal connections to our economic dislocations, they DO have government tanks – and other military resources – at their disposal!
