The UNLV Stalinists, led by the Provost, are incredibly stupid. Since when does all classroom discussion have to be backed up by “peer-reviewed research”?! At research universities, which UNLV laughingly pretends to be, professors spend a great deal of time talking in class about ongoing research in their respective fields, especially to graduate students who are doing research themselves. At my own school, there is an effort to bring more of the better undergraduates into the research arena; we even have an awards conference every year where undergraduate research papers are presented.
