Leslie Webb writes in with a link to my new favorite anti-war Bob Dylan song.
Another anti-state Steppenwolf song comes to mind. I bought this album when I was a wee kid, and it was about this time that I evolved from Mary Poppins/Disney albums to Steppenwolf, The Standells, and the Doors. My brothers had to explain this song to me: Don’t Step on the Grass, Sam. Great lyrics against the state for jailing peaceful pot smokers. But then there’s The Pusher, a song that calls for a government war on drugs in terms of hard substances.
