re: Secret Strategy Works

Karen DeCoster thinks the Cato/Reason “secret strategy” was to get out the “redneck vote” for Ron Paul in Nevada. Well, maybe. The interesting thing is that he surely got the support of the real libertarians in Vegas, as opposed to the whining, wimpering, beltway “cosmopolitans.”

In any event it’s interesting to recall that the political strategy that got Ronald Reagan elected was his “get out the redneck vote” strategy. Only they weren’t called “rednecks” but “Reagan Democrats.” Before that, generations of Southerners could not stomach voting Republican because it was The Party of Lincoln.
