William, the problem with Paul Weyrich’s piece was that the problems he cited (the decline of American manufacturing, the failure of Americans to save, the decline of small businesses) are rooted in the federal government’s tax, regulatory, and monetary policies. Also, most of the problems with the multi-nationals are because of their ability to manipulate the regulatory state to their advantage, at the expense of their less politically-connected competitors and consumers.
