Re: Media Lapdogs

Charles: A year 2000 article by Dutch journalist, Abe de Vries, told of a U.S. Army operation at Ft. Bragg, NC. Army “psy-ops” [short for Fourth Psychological Operations Group] personnel worked as regular employees at CNN doing news production work. This story was reported by the late Alexander Cockburn in Counterpunch [which can be found on-line at www.counterpunch.org/2000/03/26/cnn-and-psyops/]. One Army official was quoted as calling for “greater cooperation between the armed forces and media giants.”

A few years after this story was published, I had a conversation with a man who had been legal counsel for CNN. I asked him about this report, and he told me he was unaware of it. After I spelled out some of the details to him, he suddenly became aware of the reported events.
