Like most Lincoln cultists, Lewis Lehrman wrote a book about ONE of Lincoln’s SPEECHES (that he made seven years before becoming president) while ignoring most of his ACTIONS AND ACTUAL BEHAVIOR.   This is a very dark and dishonest “art,” but it comprises at least 90% of all “Lincoln scholarship,” especially the Straussian variety (named after the atheist/numerologist Leo Strauss).  It’s far worse than merely judging Lincoln by his political speeches alone, since word twisters like Lehrman “reinterpret” for us “what Lincoln really meant” even if the interpretations sometimes seem to be the opposite of the plain language in the speech.  … Continue reading re: Glenn Beck: Lincoln Propagandist
