Dear Professor Block,
I am currently writing a short book on the upcoming US presidential election in German. In my forward, I wanted to draw attention to your “Libertarian for Trump”-initiative. I found a piece on CNBC.com
that quotes you as follows: “If it was Donald versus Hillary [Clinton], I would have a much harder time. I would have trouble deciding.” Could you briefly clarify this statement, because I wonder about its content. Did the interviewer quote you correctly that you find yourself undecided in a race Hillary vs. Trump or do you simply favor Johnson? Now, if you do so, why haven’t you named your initiative “Libertarians for Johnson”? Thank you so much for your response! Best, DE
Dear DE:
I rank the three candidates in this way, in my order of preference:
Gary Johnson
Donald Trump
Hillary Clinton
I was misquoted as saying this: “If it was Donald versus Hillary [Clinton], I would have a much harder
time. I would have trouble deciding.”
In order to make sense of this, since I did indeed say SOMETHING like this, I would change it to this:
“If it was Donald versus Gary Johnson, I would have a much harder time. I would have trouble deciding.”
But even that is not accurate. For, if it was entirely up to me, and I could choose the next president, I would choose Johnson over Trump.
In order to make more sense of this, I would substitute this: “If it was VOTING FOR Donald versus Gary Johnson, I would have a much harder time. I would have trouble deciding.”
Why would I have such a hard time VOTING? This is because it is unclear which state I am in.
In order to clarify that, please read this:

Walter
