Regarding Stephan’s post below about the Time magazine Lincoln whitewash and Barack Obama, it does appear that the senator has succeeded in seeing through the fog of “Lincoln scholarship” to get an idea of Lincoln’s true nature. This is quite an accomplishment for a man from Illinois! The senator apparently knows that Lincoln stated throughout his adult life that he was opposed to ever “making voters or jurors of Negroes,” or allowing them to hold public office.
