I have no sympathy for a man who said at a June 2002 press conference: “We need to strip corrupt corporate kingpins of their ill-gotten gains. We’re going to shackle them and take them to jail. We’re taking the mansion. We’re draining the accounts. And we’re coming after the yacht.” DeLay was speaking in reaction to disclosures of corporate accounting fraud (Enron, WorldCom). DeLay also recently said that the Republicans had “trimmed the fat” out of the federal budget. His definition of fat is obviously not the same as mine.
