Katy Perry has just under 70 million twitter followers. She’s a singer I never heard of until today in checking on Obama’s following. After her is someone named Justin Bieber with 64 million. I’d heard of him. He was making news for all sorts of youthful indiscretions. Then comes Obama with 59.5 million. I’m not a twitter member, but I looked at a page of his tweets. He’s promoting government action on global warming. Presidential pronouncements can move markets, so one can understand why he might have many followers. But 59 million seems a tad large for people who want to tune in to government propaganda. However, he got almost 66 million votes in 2012. Docility is at present an American characteristic. It means being tractable and easily managed.
