People Will Be Judged

Here’s an e-mail from Jim Lloyd followed by a thought.

“I believe you are correct, but I don’t think the politicos and public health directors will be the only ‘casualties’ of the COVID19 pandemic narrative. The established press is already hemorrhaging readers and viewers; even with inflated numbers facilitated by sketchy CDC guidelines, this story will hurt that industry.

“Additionally, the esteem and social status afforded physicians, et alia, will take a significant if not major blow; the younger doctors and nurses have driven the line while those with decades of experience have questioned it, at least privately.

“Everyone who has pushed the economy into a recession (or worse) will have to deal with the public. No one will be exempt from criticism on this one.”

Going forward, the public will judge many people by how they reacted to COVID-19. The public will judge them by their actions and statements. The ramifications are huge even if not discernible right away. Public judgments are going to be influenced by media “interpreters”, and they too will be scrutinized for their responses. This being an election year (and even if it were not), many narratives are being constructed and spread at this very moment. Those media and social media companies with their ever-growing capacity and tendency to edit and censor will be judged too, as they should be.
