How fun to see an ad for the manual typewriter. I used them, of course, and electric and electronic typewriters too, before the blessed advent of WordStar, which–if you knew the zillion commands–was still the fastest way to write. (Then, after using WordPerfect, I settled on Word.) I do not know about the particular typewriter being advertised by Hammacher Schlemmer, but for me, as for Murray Rothbard, nothing surpassed the IBM Correcting Selectric.
