NPR Attacks the Gold Standard

Writes a friend: I was listening to NPR on my commute home. After mentioning that gold had broken $1,500, they ran a piece in which two “experts” assured listeners that the present monetary system is “much better” than the gold standard. It’s full of fallacious reasoning, of course, blaming the gold standard for the fallout caused by central bank money-printing. Abandon gold, but not the printing press!I can’t help but feel that this is a response to the rising popularity of Ron Paul, who isn’t mentioned.
