There is much evidence to support the view that our politicized society is in a state of collapse; that the institutional order is experiencing its “decline and fall.” Perhaps there is allegorical support for this in a news report that a foot-square piece of marble fell from the molding at the U.S. Supreme Court building this morning. The marble had fallen from an area above a carved figure representing “Order.” Another example, perhaps, of art imitating life?
