More on Closed Churches; Sorry I Can’t Say “Guess What! They’ve Re-Opened!”

In response to “Regarding Closed Churches, Pastor Josh Hurley Asks, ‘Remember?’”, Scott in Colorado sent me a sermon he preached earlier this month on the same topic. He kindly shared both a Power Point presentation and his script; either or both are yours for the asking when you email me. They’re ideal for persuading your siblings in the Lord who’ve swallowed the media’s hysterical bilge because they present the facts about C-virus and Christians’ response (both actual and Scriptural) in calm, rational tones.

Meanwhile, have you noticed how shuttered chapels offer identical excuses? I blogged yesterday about one of my favorites (“We love our neighbors way too much to endanger them by opening our doors during this bubonic plague—ah, coronavirus”), but there are a couple more that appear on ecclesiastical website after ecclesiastical website: “The Church is more than our physical assembly”; “We want to honor our rulers by following their advice”—oh, gross: why would any “Christian” honor rulers who slaughter innocents and thieve from us to finance such murder, let alone advocate sodomy, sexual assault at airports, endless wars, etc., ad infinitum?

As I surveyed these websites, the similarities became increasingly eerie—until one preacher inadvertently explained on a page dated March 13: “There was a state-wide conference call this morning by the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives that informed pastors as to how to proceed with caution.”

Now the monolithic closings and justifications make sense, don’t they?

Finally, a word of caution: if your pastor caved so easily to Leviathan’s “suggestion” that he shut his doors without any pressure beyond a conference call and perhaps some “shaming” on Facebook had he remained open, how fast will he accede to armed soldiers demanding lists of his members? Outright persecution and torture of Christians are coming to this country, just as they did to Hitler’s Germany, Soviet Russia, Communist China, and all totalitarian, atheist regimes.

I won’t endure such a trial with a wus in the pulpit. Will you?
