Lew: The automatic shotgun is symptomatic of our morally bankrupt culture. Think of it. Someone had to design, manufacture, and sell a weapon that has but one purpose: the indiscriminate slaughter of mass crowds of people. Unlike a rifle, a shotgun is not very selective as to who it hits. What kinds of people believe that the military and the police – and will there be a distinction in our future? – need to have the rapid-fire capacity to kill hundreds (or even thousands) of other people? And for what purpose? And who will be the likely targets?

Pogo Possum had it right: “we have met the enemy and they is us.”
