I noticed when I logged into the History Book Club today that there was a note saying that historian John Keegan had died on August 2. Then there was this quote from him: “Even a pacifist should admire the military virtues.” What virtues might those be? Killing, raping, destroying, pillaging, shooting, bombing, or maiming?
