2013 Man of the Year

It was never my intention that my first blog post of 2014 be about the military. But how can it not be when the Washington Free Beacon names The American Soldier as a “Man of the Year” for 2013.

Which soldier could this be? Is it the rapist, the drug addict, the singer of filthy cadences, the one who committed suicide, or the one who joined the military because he couldn’t find a job? Or is it just the typical soldier who invaded and occupied Afghanistan while declaring that he was defending our freedom to celebrate Christmas and watch an NFL game?

I guess the Man of the Year includes women too: “As these brave men and women fight for our freedom overseas, it is worth taking a moment to recognize their valor, salute their bravery, and mourn the 119 members of the armed services killed in Afghanistan this year.”

Thanks to Chris Rossini of the EPJ.
