Awesome Sodas (Part II)

(Part I here.)  Summer is approaching and if you like sodas but not all the special-interest government-subsidized junk in them (HFCS, colorings, preservatives), you now have more alternatives than ever and these are healthier than many if not most of the other mainstream store syrups out there and better than the flavored seltzers if you think they’re too weak in flavor.

Grape – in seltzer, a great grape soda. Maybe the best flavor.

Vanilla Cream – in seltzer, a nice cream soda. With organic lemon juice and water (or seltzer) makes a nice vanilla-cream lemonade (or soda). Great summer drink to unveil with company or a cookout. Would be good in a punch bowl too, but make sure to test your proportions before the occasion.  Some of the organic lemon juices are very strong!

Lemon Drop – very good for a lemon-lime/7-up knockoff.

Valencia Orange – not the most potent, but if you like orange sodas use a little more than average.  Was good.

Cola – a Pepsi flavor, so if you like that, go for it.

Coconut– had never seen this but had it at a friend’s house. Was good and made a unique soda. Don’t remember ever seeing a coconut soda for sale in any store but this would almost certainly be healthier.

English Toffee – maple/butterscotch flavor if that’s your thing. Makes another unique flavor.

Root Beer – good, but not the most potent. Have to use more than average in sparkling water, but is okay.

Berry/Raspberry – some people really like these, others not so much.  Worth a try, as I found out with coconut.  A can’t miss? Strawberry Zevia.  Super!

I will continue these reviews if they are helpful.
