Thanks to Kent Snyder for drawing my attention to Bush’s July 4 speech in West Virginia in which he compares the war for American Independence with the invasion of Iraq. Bush does have a point when he claims he is advancing the “spirit of ’76” but his actions are more in the spirit of King George than the spirit of George Washington.
