If it is at all possible, Bush is likely to be even less libertarian in his second term. After all, many libertarian and small-government conservatives who voted for Bush in 2000 abandoned him on Tuesday. Yet Bush not only won more electoral votes than he did in 2000, he won the popular vote. In fact, more people cast a vote for George W. Bush on Tuesday than voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984. I believe the lesson Rove and company will take from this is that the GOP should remain the party of war, welfare, debt, and theocracy.
