Letters for Liberty

Sal Fariello has written to the CEO of Publix because, like so many of Our Corporate Rulers, this one mistakes customers for serfs and orders them to wear masks. Sal’s letter points out that the

face mask requirement for customers at all Publix supermarkets … is exposing Publix to potentially devastating litigation and ruination of Publix’ reputation …

Publix employees are routinely pulling down their masks completely to facilitate breathing or alternatively lowering the mask to a point below the nose. I have questioned many of them about this and they all confided that they are experiencing violent headaches, dizziness and fatigue. I have conducted extensive reviews of the learned literature on the subject of the deleterious effects of mask-induced carbon dioxide elevation on the immune system and on mask user performance and risk of accidents.  … I am willing to provide you with the relevant data and studies if you should desire to see them. In short, you would appear to have a ticking time bomb in your stores with respect to your employees’ health and safety, and masks are the cause, not the cure. …

Dr. Fauci stated that masks could increase the incidence of infection because people tend to fiddle with the infected masks and then touch objects and their face too. I have observed this in all the Publix supermarkets I have visited, that is, employees fiddling with their masks and then handling food, even at the deli counter. I would remind you that the CDC guidelines demand that the hands be washed by an employee immediately after any touching of the mask, but this is not being done at Publix. Under applicable Florida regulations such masks are deemed hazardous medical waste. …

The aforementioned facts lead me to conclude that Publix is setting itself up for a litigation blizzard and a public relations disaster. There is simply no valid excuse to exclude nonmasks users from the store when no hard scientific evidence supports such a position. I would remind you that in each market area, Publix exercises what is essentially a monopoly on food distribution. The company therefore acts as a de facto public utility and ought to provide access to food to everybody without discrimination. To deprive people of the inherent right to obtain food without being forced to wear masks which can jeopardize their health by suppressing their immune system and increasing accident potential when they leave the store is unconscionable. …I … conclude by commenting on Publix’s potential litigation exposure and exposure to a potential public relations disaster. …This mask issue it would seem is on the edge of blowing up into a nationwide scandal, and Publix will get caught up in it.

And there you have the opening shots in our campaign to protect shoppers’ health and freedom! Thank God, Sal is a veteran of such strategies:

SFT Publishing which my wife and I owned was the first small publisher in America to crack all the major book chains. We did it with Mugged By Mr. Badwrench which was the subject of my 28-city author tour that put me on the Oprah show as well as many others. We directed the publicity campaign and did tens of thousands of pieces of direct mail. We learned what works and what does not. …

We have done tens of thousands of pieces of direct mail promoting our forensic science business.

To make an impression on people in America they must be exposed to at least 12 identical advertising messages as of 30 years ago. Now that number is way up because of internet clutter.

…we know that you cannot scattershot your publicity. You must focus and repeat the same message dozens of times to get any attention and rise above the noise level in the marketplace of ideas.

And that’s where you, dear reader, come in. Sal now needs all hands on deck for this titanic battle:

 [Publix] must be hammered relentlessly…

You can do that in several ways. First, and probably the most effective method,

….write to the CEO and include a copy of my letter

(Which was too long to reprint here, so please email me for your copy.)

with a hand written note attached to it that says:

“I am disgusted with Publix and will not shop there and I will tell all my friends not to shop there. Stop this mask requirement nonsense immediately.”

Address the envelope by hand (that “gets attention,” Sal says) to:

Mr. Todd Jones

Chief Executive Officer

Publix Supermarkets

3300 Publix Corporate Parkway

Lakeland, FL 33811

Second, you can also simply

…mention my letter … [in] a hand written note to the CEO stating that [you] are boycotting Publix and will tell all [your] friends to avoid Publix. Regular mail will do. No certified mail needed. Just one stamp and a note.

Finally, if you prefer,

email Publix CEO, Todd Jones,[email protected].

Or call him: (863) 688-1188

Sal asks that we

start pouring it on ASAP. After I get Jones’ reply (he will first consult with the PR department and legal), depending on what he says, I will send the letter to every class action law firm I know of.

Publix has fired a volley at us; time to man the ramparts. Once we defeat this nonsense, we’ll take aim at WalMart. And then others of liberty’s enemies.

But success depends on you. Ready? Set? WRITE!
