It’s Okay When the U.S. Sends a Deadly Message

Socialist but consistent war critic Chris Hedges recently wrote: “When Robert McNamara in 1965 began the massive bombing campaign of North Vietnam, he did it because he said he wanted to ‘send a message’ to the North Vietnamese.” Why is it that when the U.S. sends a deadly message to foreigners it is okay, but when foreigners send a deadly message to the United States—like on 9/11—it is a terrorist attack?
