Once again, the American media disprove my contention that it could not possibly become more banal, biased, and hypocritical. In covering the Pope’s funeral on the ABC morning show the network news anchors, all of whom are paid $10-20 million per year, remarked that the fact that the Pope died with no worldly possessions to his name “is a lesson for all of us.” As Bill Clinton would say, it all depends on what the meaning of the word “us” is.
