When I began collecting petition signatures for Roger MacBride’s 1976 Libertarian Presidential Campaign in Michigan I was paid ten cents per name. Later in Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota when I headed up the state ballot drives it was up to 25 cents.

I forget what we paid petitioners in 1980 for the Ed Clark campaign, a dollar a signature seems to ring a bell.

Although I was David Bergland’s National Ballot Drive Coordinator in 1984 we didn’t generally pay petitioners, the National LP did that.

The RFK Jr. campaign paid petitioners $90 per hour.

Now that is INFLATION.
