Mr. Anonymous writes,
My (private) school released its reopening plan, and it is as awful as one would expect: temperature checks, forced masking at all times, lunch in the classrooms, no singing, no assemblies, excessive use of hand sanitizer, etc. I have spent years building relationships and programs at this school; the attachment is deep. The prospect of leaving my students and colleagues behind is frightening, but the thought of being a faceless enforcer of this evil is equally disturbing. Have you heard from any other teachers struggling with a similar decision? I am truly torn. Faculty meetings begin later this week, so time is running out. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
If any of you suffer a similar situation and wish to commiserate, or if you have advice for our friend, please write me. I’ll forward your notes to him; let me know whether to leave your name and email address intact.
Thanks so much.
