I live in  a beach town where environmental virtue signalling is so pervasive that most restaurants quit using plastic straws and replaced them with paper ones before the city government “mandated” it.  (Everything you drink from the new straws tastes like paper).  Recently I’ve noticed lots of those light blue masks you can get at CVS all over the sidewalks, gutters, etc.  Once the string breaks I guess a lot of people just throw the darn thing on the ground.
