How America Became a Corporate Welfare/Warfare Police State

This is a main theme of my new  online Mises Academy course entitled “Participatory Fascism: Hamilton, Clay Lincoln and the Curse of Economic Nationalism.”  It will be a five-week online course beginning this Thursday evening, January 3.  We will discuss the generations-long debates over laissez-faire versus mercantilism or “managed capitalism,” beginning with the great debate over central banking between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.  Students will learn about all the main arguments from the perspective of Austrian political economy, and about the relevance of these ideas today.
