David, I think dismissals of Hayek, as opposed to qualifications about some of his work, are a mistake. Joe Salerno wrote an excellent, highly laudatory introduction to a collection of Hayek’s early work (published by the Mises Institute), through the late 1930s. Rothbard made frequent reference to these works, even while criticizing some of Hayek’s later work, particularly some of his legal, philosophical, and political writing. Joe also wrote a very sympathetic introduction to A Tiger by the Tail, which includes excerpts from Hayek’s later economic work.
