What Happened to Food Stamps?

The U.S. government spends billions of dollars every year providing low-income people with food stamps. So why all the campaigns to fight childhood hunger? In my mail yesterday was a plastic bag to put food in for the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. I have heard public service announcements in stores featuring some celebrity talking about childhood hunger and how many millions of American kids go to bed hungry every night. I just have one question: What happened to food stamps? How can anyone in the United States go to bed hungry at night? The welfare state is a failure. All charity should be private charity.
