With Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suddenly dropping out of the race for House Speaker the media is in a frenzy. It’s a race between “hardcore conservatives” and “pragmatists” they claim. But in reality the vast majority of each party is all in favor of more spending at home and overseas. No one is going to “shut down” government; it’s just theatre.
