They aren’t extinct. See the South, for example. They are also the rule in the great cities of Minneapolis and Vancouver, to take two places I’ve recently visited. I’ve long suspected that Canada is freer than Bush-Cheney America. After my recent visit to British Columbia, I think it’s also more civilized.
