Ernest S. Christian and Gary A. Robbins of Heritage Foundation summarize the dreadful inefficiency of government (as evaluated by the OMB) in their 1/15/08 article in the IBD. Agency after agency and department after department overspend and “fall 43% short of achieving the results they are supposed to produce.”
This is hardly news, but I’m happy to see the OMB report it and happy these gentlemen wrote about it.
But they reach absolutely no conclusion! Go radical, Heritage men. Stop being conservatives who claim they are the doctors who can dress the wounds of government and heal the state’s diseases. Come out and say the obvious. These diseases are in the very nature of government. There is no cure. We built this Frankenstein and we need to kill it.
