The mayor of New Orleans, who has ordered the removal of all the Confederate memorials in the city, including street names, says that he existence of those memorials is why New Orleans has lost so much population over the past twelve years.  It’s not that 86% of the city was flooded after the government levees failed during Hurricane Katrina, or the destruction of thousands of homes and businesses during the storm, or the rampant violent crime that followed, or the loss of hundreds of police.  It was the Robert E.
