“Friendly Fascism” 2016

A dominant meme in mainstream media coverage and political punditry this 2016 election cycle is the notion of fascism. Since World War II the words “fascism” or “fascist” have been used as terms of attack, vilification or abuse — pejorative name-calling without any intellectual substance or reflective content.  Are Donald Trump or the other remaining GOP presidential candidates “fascists”? Are Hillary Clinton or self-declared democratic socialist Bernie Sanders also “fascists”? What is “fascism“? What are its origins and legacy? Here are some terrific background intellectual resources which briefly address these crucial questions: The Fascist ThreatAmerican Fascism, Fascism Comes To America, The Ideological Roots of New Deal Statism, and Allen Dulles: Fascist Spymaster and Deep State Architect.
