Dana Perino lauded Michelle Obama’s convention speech. Perino said of Obama “When you talk about authenticity, she has it in spades.” Perino didn’t seem to know that “spade” is “A derogatory term for an African American, more commonly used in the post-Civil War era than today.” But still in use and the subject of essays about racism.
