Fluttering in the Breeze

The Prime Minister of India, Manmoham Singh, is visiting Mordor on the Potomac this week. He is staying in Blair House, the official residence for all high-ranking guests, right across Pennsynvania Ave. from the White House.

Security is tight, which is typical for even minor state visits. But I’ve seen something I’ve never seen in all my days here (and granted, they are fairly limited): there are Indian flags everywhere, fluttering from lamp posts all around the White House, alongside US and DC flags. They were put up sometime last week.

In fact, a giant Indian flag is hanging from the Old Executive Office Building, right beside a giant Old Glory. Maybe so the prime minister can wake and see the wheel turning slowly in the breeze.
