The Marine Corps is desperately trying to certify that women are combat ready but it is not working. It seems that a majority of females cannot meet the standard for pullups–three. “Fifty-five percent of female recruits tested at the end of boot camp were doing fewer than three pullups; only 1 percent of male recruits failed the test.”(I have been told that the standard for men is 20 pullups.) So, what is the Marine Corps going to do? It is going to put off the test until sometime next year to gather more data and “ensure all female Marines are given the best opportunity to succeed.”
Are these the Marines we want defending our freedoms?
N.B.: The last line is a joke. I certainly don’t believe that Marines of any gender are defending our freedoms.7:19 pm on January 2, 2014 Email Laurence M. Vance
