Fascist Florida

The mayor of Orange County, Florida, Jerry Demings, has decreed that beginning on Saturday, June 20, “every person working, living, visiting or doing business in Orange County” is required to wear a mask while out in public until further notice.

I have read the mayor’s executive order. It lists no penalties for violating the order. Exempt are “persons for whom a face covering would cause impairment due to an existing health condition.” I suddenly feel an existing health condition coming on.

In neighboring Osceola County, the county’s order to require masks originally had a penalty of “a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by a $500 fine and up to 60 days in jail,” but the penalty was rescinded.
