Do They Still Hate Us for Our “Freedoms”?

The reason offered by the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Kristol/Krauthammer/Wolfowitz/Frum/Levin/Limbaugh/Hannity/etc. neocons for the invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan was that Muslims in those countries supposedly “hate our freedoms” here in America.

Now that they’ve found a new Hitler, the same Hitler that the U.S. government was funding in Syria (i.e., “ISIS”), one wonders if the neocons still insist that “they” hate “our” freedoms.  Like the freedom that comes from local cops using mine-resistant tanks, sniper rifles, machine guns, night-vision goggles, and other military hardware against peaceful protesters.  Like the freedom that comes from local cops shooting and killing 500 citizens per year, almost all of whom posed no threat to them (see Paul Craig Roberts’s article today).  Like the freedom from a government that spies on all of our emails and phone calls, lies about it, and threatens to hang whistle blowers who object to it.  Like the freedom that comes from warrantless wiretaps and searches.  Or the freedom from hundreds of drug war police break-ins of private homes each year where they find not a single marijuana cigarette.  Or the freedom of healthcare communism, hundreds of thousands of regulations affecting all aspects of every business in America; a tax system that gobbles up almost half of national income; a political class that laughs at the Constitution and hires propagandists (like the Soviet Poverty Law Center) to smear all critics of government as racists or terrorists.

Because a few dozen guys riding around in the back of Toyota pickup trucks in Iraq while carrying automatic weapons hate these “freedoms,” we must now re-escalate the “war” in Iraq, we are told by defense contractor after defense contractor on CNN, day in and day out.   I predict that Americans will fall for this line of bullshit, as they did the earlier lines, proving once again that America has become a society of morons.
