Divided America and the Rumblings of Secession

Jack Perry’s very able article, Seeds of Secession, should remind each of us of one of the central factual realities concerning American history: America has always been divided, divided on geographical, ethnocultural, ethnoreligious, and ideological lines. Through it all there has been intermittent rumblings of secession.
