De-Brainwashing Yourself

Writes Sudha Shenoy: “I quote from Harry Browne’s weekend column: ‘I must remind you that 90% of what we know about foreign affairs is nformation that has come from the U.S. government. That’s where CNN, Fox TV News, ABC, NBC, CBS, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and almost all the rest of the American media get almost all their information.’

“Can I just say that there are alternatives? The BBC – on the net & on satellite; Al-Jazeera on the net; Juan Cole’s blog (brilliant); dozens of ‘foreign’ newspapers/journals in English or with English-language editions eg, The Spectator (weekly), The Times [London], The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, etc., etc.

“As more people flee to alternative sources, so the (de facto) press/TV arm of the US govt will lose its monopoly. As Mises put it, ‘The world is the sphere of the market economy’. And as people gain more information, they can see govt misinformation for what it is.”
