Crony Capitalism’s Horizon

New Jersey’s Gov. Chris “Crisco” Christie reasons—and I use the term loosely—that since Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey “’enjoys nonprofit status despite making billions of dollars,’ including $2.9 billion in surplus on $12 billion of revenue in 2015,” it should “[establish] a ‘permanent fund’ with money from its surplus to support health care for the state’s poorest residents.” And so he “propose[s] … that we work urgently to establish a permanent fund that Horizon would fund every year through their abundant surplus.” Whoa!
